{"id":370,"date":"2025-08-07T13:26:12","date_gmt":"2025-08-07T18:26:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rotatingcilia.com\/?p=370"},"modified":"2025-08-07T13:26:14","modified_gmt":"2025-08-07T18:26:14","slug":"excerpts-ontario-government-industrial-farm","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rotatingcilia.com\/?p=370","title":{"rendered":"Excerpts &#8211; Ontario Government Industrial Farm"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Ontario Provincial Board of Health Annual Report, 1922 <\/strong><br>District 7 Report, pg. 200<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ontario Government Industrial Farm<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>An epidemic of typhoid fever broke out at the above noted institution in the past year, nine of the inmates developing the disease, with, in one case, fatal results.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I accompanied Dr. Sparks, D.H.O., several times on inspections of this institution, while this epidemic was on. The source of the disease was undoubtedly from a carrier-inmate, who used a latrine which was improperly built, thus allowing the entry of house-flies to its contents, from there into the kitchen and dining-room, where the inmates\u2019 food was cooked and served.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This case furnished a good example of the importance of following sanitary rules. A heap of manure had been left at the cow-barn for months\u2014millions of flies bred in this unsanitary mess.
